JUNE 9-16

One more step and you’re at the top. You look down. The valley below is so gorgeous you could almost cry.
You look around. How did these people I met just six days ago become such incredible friends? Now we’re sharing this mountain!
You look up. And say thank you.

climb mountains

Rock climbing. Rappelling. Whitewater rafting. Hiking. At times, you may have to push yourself a little. Or help pull others.

But so many young people before you have said the same thing: Every mile was worth it. Sometimes the toughest miles are also the most fun – and the ones you’ll never forget.

learn mountains

Your head starts to feel dizzy. It’s not the altitude. It’s the ideas. You’re learning about ancient mountains in the Bible. The ones Moses and Jesus climbed.

You’re seeing the meaning behind the mountain. You’re hearing how God calls people to help the blessed-and-broken world below.

conquer mountains

Nobody comes to Trek all perfect and clean. This is one place where it’s safe to be honest about challenges we face.

We don’t have to conquer them alone. We can be together in worship and small groups. We can be with God in prayer. We can grow closer, a little more confident, and a lot more hopeful.

Join Us This Summer

Trek (formerly “Faith Calls Mountain Academy”) takes place in the beautiful San Juan mountains of Colorado. Our program has three key elements—outdoor adventure, learning sessions, and spiritual practices, all intended to deepen our connection with Christ, other people, and God’s creation.

We hope you’ll apply. Each year we bring together a fantastic group of young people who form close friendships and share a life-changing experience. Listen to what our Trek alums have to say:

“Certainly the most powerful experience I have had in my faith journey.”
– Kenna Bartholomew, 17
“It is a truly amazing theological experience that encouraged me to pursue God in a deeper and fuller way.”
– Lauren Ysa, 17
“This program completely revolutionized the way I look at the Bible. I heard God speak to me very clearly and felt an irreplaceable sense of community.”
– Colton Lee, 17
“It calls people to look inside themselves and abandon fear.”
– Destiny Nwoko, 16
“It’s a true life-changing experience that I wish never had to end.”
– Grace Parker, 18

Where Trek takes place in the mountains of Colorado. Participants meet in Dallas on June 9. We provide transportation from there.
What’s a typical day like?
A typical Trek day begins and ends with prayer and worship. In between we learn about eight “mountains of God” in the Bible, then head out to climb mountains or go whitewater rafting.
We eat most of our meals and sleep in a pretty nice lodge. Each day also includes some free time. Here’s our daily schedule.
Who leads Trek?
The leadership includes a director from SMU Perkins, along with some of the best professors and seminarians in the country. See our team here.
Why should I go?
If your goal this summer is adventure, friendship, and a closer walk with God, then Trek could be perfect for you. Why just share a meme with friends when you can share a mountain.
How much does it cost?
SMU Perkins School of Theology receives donations to pay for 80% of your expenses. Your portion is $335. This covers everything from meals to climbing ropes to a tee shirt you can wear home. More info.
